Our New York Apartment Adventures

Even though our apartment is not quite finished being decorated yet (I have some big artwork plans), I just cleaned it from top to bottom (Katie is coming today) so I thought I'd post some pics of what it looks like so far. I know you are all DYING to see it. Yeah right. Anyway, here's the tour:

On the left is our front door.

This was taken standing by the front door. I have big plans for some artwork above the couch. Something along the lines of 2 30"x40" canvas' real bright and colorful as well as some framed photos.

Here is another view with the other wall in the picture. TV and computer. Must haves. Have I mentioned I love our balcony? David is dying to get some patio furniture of some kind. We'll probably get a couple of chairs and a table for out there.

Here are some better views of the other half of our main room.

David's huge TV.

I am dying to get a shelf on the wall for above the computer so the desk doesn't look to cluttered. I hate clutter. Espesh in a main room. But anyways, that is why it looks so bare up there. To the right is the hallway to the other rooms.

Here is the kitchen view from the front door.

Front door on the left in this pic. The kitchen is small, but definitely has all the necessities.

From the front door looking right down the hallway.

This is the closet at the beginning of the hallway. Coats, sports stuff and cleaning supplies.

Here is the second bedroom/baby's room. Not much baby stuff yet!

Laundry room. So so so glad we have this. I can not imagine life without it.

Second bathroom. Needing a shelf for above the toilet. It looks really white and beige but I actually did put some colorful artwork on the wall next to the toilet that you can't see in this pic. I'll probably eventually get a new more colorful rug and shower curtain. That will liven things up.

Hallway linen closet.

Master bedroom.

We desperately need some artwork above the bed! I have plans for 2 more 30"x40" cnavas'. We also need some normal night stands. I hate plastic drawers, but they are so handy! And cheap. Why are night stands so freakin' expensive?

Another curtain David hung. Thanks hun!

Here you can see the hallway with the closet that leads to our bathroom.

Man I need some artwork in that hallway on the right too.

Here are the Ikea Expedit shelves David built but full of clothes. Very handy.

And the actual closet. I can't believe all my shoes fit!

Last but not least is our master bathroom. The shower is really tall and has jets on the right side. Those come in handy when I don't want to get my hair wet.

Hope you enjoyed the tour. I will post more pics as I finish the baby's room and put up more artwork, but so far I love it. It is VERY Ikea catalog, but what are ya gonna do. It's cheap, cute stuff.

Come visit soon!

My First Mother's Day Adventures

Sunday, May 12th was Mother's Day so before I go on I just want to say again Happy Mother's Day to all my favorite mom's out there! You know who you are. Pretty much everyone I know who has ever had a baby because, seriously, this is crazy hard stuff.

Although I haven't given birth yet, I still consider this my first real life Mother's Day. Earlier in the week I got an awesome card and gift from my sister, Cindy and her good friend Chelsa.

They made me this adorable pendant banner for the baby's room! So cute. I love it. I have no idea what the baby's room will look like yet, except this and the curtains (pic below), but it'll be awesome whatever happens. Thank you Cindy and Chelsa!

On Saturday night (he couldn't wait for Sunday), David surprised me with some flowers and goodies. The thing in the front that says "drink me" is a milk shake glass from, our favorite, Max Brenner in midtown. I wanted this glass for awhile because it's called the Alice and says Alice on it and obviously Alice in Wonderland is a popular theme around here these days. He also got me a huge bag of Garrett's Chicago Mix popcorn which we love. We didn't know there was a Garrett's here (it's a Chicago thing) until the night before when we walked by it. It is actually near David's work. Between Garrett's, 2 Bro's Pizza and Juniors we are both worried he will never be able to control himself at lunchtime!

Anyway, I loved the thoughtful gifts. Thank you David!

On Sunday we went to church which was really good. In our ward they gave all the mothers mini black and white cookies. So New York.

After church I made dinner (I wanted too!) while David hung curtains in the baby's room. He did it for me because it was Mother's Day. He HATES hanging curtains. They are hard to see here, but are trees with birds. Cute.

Later we each talked to our mothers on the phone for awhile. David's mom sent me a card too. Thanks! It really was a really good day. I loved it. Thanks again all you moms!

First Half Of May Adventures

Here are some pictures of what it has been like here in New York lately.

Lovely Spring rain. Pictures from my balcony. I love the views from my balcony.

Chinese delivery. Mmmm.

Another grocery trip on the Saturday before Mother's Day. This time David went with me.

Coming back from eating out one night David and I had the subway to ourselves. I guess no one wants to go to Harlem at 1am.

Church on Mother's Day. Well, this is how this hallway looks every Sunday. Stroller parking. No cars or car seat carriers here! Not when everyone walks and takes the subway to church. Ladies here opt mostly for Britax, Phil and Teds, the B.O.B., or the City Mini (which is what I got...thanks Beccy!) All are jogging type strollers. Moms here are very passionate about their strollers. It's considered like your car here. It's gotta be durable, go through snow and rough terrain, and fit on the subway and in the tiny store aisles.

Yesterday morning I took a walk. It was a beautiful day. I walked through Marcus Garvey Park.

Got hit on by a guy while looking like this and 7 months pregnant. Seriously. It's like the 5th time I've been hit on here while out by myself. I'm not saying that because I think I'm hot or amazing. Quite the opposite actually. I'm always amazed that being 7 months pregnant obviously does not deter the men here at all. They must really like family...or pregnant, homely looking blondes.

I walked through the Conservatory Gardens in Central Park. They are amazing. Have I said how much I love Central Park yet? I believe I have. So the best part of NY.

So many amazing flowers.

A mini beach with birds at the north end of Central Park.

I am currently awaiting the arrival of my first guest in New York. My BFF, Katie. I can't wait to have a visitor and friend here! Yay!

Back In Omaha Adventures

April 29th I headed back to Omaha for a doctor's appointment I had scheduled before we moved. I wasn't sure how quickly I'd find a doctor in NY and I had to get an RH shot for my negative blood at 28 weeks and take my glucose test so I came back. It was actually really nice to come back and see everyone. Sort of like moving in baby steps.

Good old Epply.

The next day I had an early morning appointment and drank the dreaded orange drink for my glucose test to find out if I had gestational diabetes. I was nervous about it because I was sure I'd have gestational diabetes (one of my sister had it) and I didn't want to take the 3 hour test I'd have to take if I "failed" this one.

Everything at the appointment went fine, but low and behold, I did "fail" the 1 hour test they gave me and I had to go in for the 3 hour, more in depth test on Friday, May 3rd. Yuck. Needless to say when I found out I was all upset and had to call my sister. I got over it and went in and took the test. David met me there, but 3 hours in the lab's waiting room and having blood drawn 4 times was blah. After the test I went and got the biggest blizzard imaginable just in case I failed the test and had to eat vegetables the rest of my pregnancy. Mmmm. choco covered pretzel blizzard.

Later that day the doctor's office called me and told me I passed. Yay!!! So happy.

When I got to Nebraska it was 11pm and 85 degrees out. 2 days later it was freezing and snowed 6 inches. Figure out Spring Nebraska! Geesh!

On Cinco de Mayo I had some friends of mine that I used to work with throw me a little baby shower! I love these gals so much! Thanks Katie and Lindsey!

And these ladies too. Thanks Mama J (her house) and Jamie!

And these girls! Jill (seriously the best waxer in town) and Lucy.

Lindsey's new/old lover Mr. Boston joined the party too.

Look at all this delish food! So yummy.

Nice face Lindsey. Shandi in the middle.

Good thing I didn't have the gestational diabetes because I ate 6 pieces of cake that day. Not all at once. Hey, they were small pieces I swear.

Yay eating! Oh yeah, David was invited too. My friends love David. Who wouldn't?

Presents! Thank you again everyone!

See. What did I tell you last post about the double chin? I wasn't lying.

L to R: Billie (totally got the baby 3 pairs of shoes starting her out on her shoe fetish), Linds, Katie, Shandi, Me, Susie, Lucy. Not pictured: Jill, Dani, Jamie, Mama J, Dani and her son Tim. Thanks for coming everyone!

It was much fun seeing everyone. I'm going to miss them all so much.

Tuesday morning David and I flew back to NY. Luckily it was non eventful this time!
