On Thursday, June 27th some of the nice girls in my ward at church threw me a baby shower. It was really so nice of them. I told them they didn't have to, but they wanted to and who am I to argue if people want to throw a party for me? It was actually a really nice opportunity for me to talk with and get to know the girls better. I haven't been much for going out and being really social as of late, so this was good.
I got dolled up and everything.
Here I am 36.5 weeks pregnant.
Maxi skirts hide a multitude of unsightly things...as do yoga pants.
The shower was at Candice's apartment. She was the one who afford to throw the shower. So nice.
All the ladies made delicious salads. Not surprisingly, the ladies here are a pretty health conscience bunch...but you still HAVE to have cupcakes or cake at a shower!
Most of the group. Candice (the party thrower) is in the foreground with the bun.
Jessica, with the multicolored shirt had 2 games for us to play. A matching game...
...and the guess how many toilet paper squares fit around the pregnant lady game.
Here she is counting them off. The horror! I think it was 12. I guessed 10. Oh well.
We chatted and such. These girls are so nice.
And, to my surprise, there was a few gifts. So generous. We got this adorable swimsuit and some other bath stuff.
As well as a card with some moola in it everyone had chipped into. Seriously. So nice.
It was really fun and nice. Have I said how nice it was of them to do this yet? So nice.
A few days later (the the 29th) I received a surprise in the mail!
As you can see, at my family reunion I wasn't able to attend, my sisters, nieces and mom helped put together this baby shower in a box for me! It was again, so nice. I was a little excited.
I opened the box and it was indeed filled with a baby shower in a box.
Including decorations which David insisted on putting up. They are actually still up and very cute.
And a book of baby shower games. I must admit we didn't play any...yet.
The box was also filled with candy goodies and gifts...
...and an array of cards that they had passed around at the reunion and had a lot of my relatives write to me. I think I cried just looking through the stack of cards before I even read them. I was so sad I couldn't go to the reunion and this was so nice. I have the best family (extended and all) ever. I had cards here from aunts and cousins and 1st cousins once removed and all. I have a lot of cousins and they are all amazing.
I opened the gifts and cards. It was so fun. David was mesmerized by this toy.
I really have the most amazing people in my life. Thank you to everyone. I will definitely let this baby know how much everyone is looking forward to meeting her and how many people love her already.
